REVIEW: NYX Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palette in A La Mode

Today I want to share about my review and swatches of my newest eye palette from NYX' Spring 2013 Collections, Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palettes. There are 12 palette selections, and each palette consists of 9 beautiful colors.

I own the A La Mode one. It consists of browns, shimmering silvers, black and white colors.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The cute, compact kits give you a world of high-fashion looks at your fingertips.

Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polybutene, Synthetic Wax, Mineral Oil, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Ultramarine Blue (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Carmine (CI 75470), D&C Black 2 (CI 77266), FD&C Yellow 5 Al Lake (CI 19140:1), FD&C Blue 1 Al Lake (CI 42090:2).

HOW TO USE:

Use the new NYX dual ended custom designed eye shadow applicator or your favorite eye shadow brush to create a variety of eye expressions. One side of the applicator has a larger sponge applicator for covering more of the eye area easily while the narrow side of the applicator lines and defines smaller areas of the eye for finer details.

I love this kind of packaging, nice and sleek. It's small enough to fit in your makeup pouch. The bow clasp also adds cute and chic impression at the same time.

As you can see, this palette comes with 9 shades and a double-ended sponge applicator that has a nice quality. But the saddest thing for me, this palette doesn't have any mirror.

I really bad on describing colors, so please just take a look at the picture..^^ They are unnamed so I decided to give them numbers.

The swatch may seems not too obvious enough in the picture, but on my medium skin tone the colors are pigmented enough and even without primer they already popped out, though the lighter colors are a little bit tricky to work with. You could always use your favorite primers to bring out more vivid colors.

The color selection itself are really nice, there are matte and shimmery shadows, very versatile, perfect enough for every occasion. And the staying power is also quite good. It lasts about 5-6 hours on my lids.

OVERALL OPINION

I like this palette. Despite of the not so pigmented (light) colors, I think this palette will be great for traveling because the colors are so versatile, perfect for day to evening looks. I think NYX has always done a great job of arranging palettes with a great range of shades that would work well together and/or on their own. 

Too bad it doesn't come with a mirror, but at least for me, the sleek packaging with the bow alone is such an eye candy. For this price, I get more than I expected though.

- No mirror
- Need primer for better color payoff and staying power, especially for lighter shades

REPURCHASE?

No. But I will try to purchase another shades, perhaps Pardon My French or Mon Cherie...?
