REVIEW: PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown

Today I am going to review one of Indonesian local products from Martha Tilaar, PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown. As a beginner, for daily use I prefer pencil liners to liquid or gel one. This is my first brown liner ever. I recently got it from my auntie.

Hari ini aku akan me-review salah satu produk lokal Indonesia, PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown. Aku lebih suka pakai eyeliner pensil, karena aku masih belum bisa pakai yang bentuknya cair atau gel, hehe.. Ini eyeliner warna coklat pertamaku, dan ini pun dikasih sama tante aku (sering dijadiin bahan percobaan tante...soalnya beliau nggak punya anak perempuan...haha).

Three functioned pencil: to draw eye line, lip line and also can be used to form a thin line on body painting.
Pensil tiga fungsi: membentuk garis mata, garis bibir dan juga dapat digunakan untuk membentuk garis tipis pada body painting.

The packaging is simple, black with touch of white and silver. It has a cap and must be sharpened. Too bad it doesn't have a built-in sharpener, so we must use separate sharpener. The pencil is long enough and the price is IDR 88.000 (about USD 9).

Kesan pertama... biasa aja. Bentuknya seperti pensil kebanyakan. Warnanya hitam dengan sedikit sentuhan warna putih dan silver. Eyeliner ini udah ada tutup pensilnya, tapi sayang nggak disertain juga sama rautan.. Jadi agak sedikit repot kalau udah tumpul musti diraut-raut lagi sama rautan yang terpisah. Oya, menurutku harganya agak sedikit mahal, Rp 88.000.

KNOW IT BETTER

PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown : Swatch, smudge-test, waterproof-test

As you can see from picture above, this pencil has a rich, matte, deep brown color. Very wearable. It's pigmented and glides smoothly I tried to smudge but it still stays on my skin. And as you can see on bottom-left picture, it's quite waterproof. But then I rubbed it again a bit brutally when it still wet... it slightly fade away and cracking..but well, it stays. About the staying power, it stays 3-4 hours on my lids.
It claimed to be multi-functioned: for eye liner, lip liner, and body painting. But I haven't tried the two other functions (lip liner and body painting). But for a makeup artist, this pencil could be very useful I think.

Seperti yang bisa dilihat dari gambar di atas, warnanya coklat pekat. Ketika aku coba menggosok eyeliner ini, kelihatan kalau garisnya agak sedikit memudar dan berantakan (gambar kanan atas). Untungnya, dia masih tahan sama air (gambar kiri bawah). Tapi, waktu dalam keadaan basah aku gosok dengan agak sedikit brutal  (gambar kanan bawah), garisnya memang agak luntur, jadi seperti pecah-pecah gitu, tapi seenggaknya dia masih bertahan di kulitku. Daya tahannya sendiri kira-kira 3-4 jam. Asal jangan digosok terlalu kenceng supaya nggak gampang luntur.
PAC bilang kalo produk ini juga bisa dipakai sebagai pensil bibir dan buat body painting. Menurutku lumayan multifungsi buat para makeup artist.

OVERALL OPINION

I think PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown is not my cup of tea. I do love the color and texture, but the application is a bit tricky and the price tag is slightly over the top for a student like me. But I often wear this liner when I don't want my eyeliner become too noticeable. I think brown liner looks more natural than the black one.

PAC Make Up Pencil in Brown ini bukan favoritku. Warna dan teksturnya memang aku suka, tapi dengan harga yang nggak murah, menurutku kualitasnya biasa aja. Tapi eyeliner ini lumayan sering aku pakai kalo lagi nggak pengen terlalu kelihatan pake eyeliner karena menurutku eyeliner warna coklat lebih soft dan natural dibandingin eyeliner warna hitam :)

YAY:
+ Rich, deep brown color
+ Glides on smoothly
+ Matte finish
+ Has 3 different functions
+ Made in Indonesia (must be proud of our local products!)

NAY:
- Must be sharpened with a separate sharpener
- Must be completely dry to achieve smudge/water proof finish
- A bit pricey for a student like me

RATING:

3.5/5 ACCEPTABLE

REPURCHASE?

No. I think I'll stick with my current fave, Etude House Proof 10 Pencil Eyeliner, or maybe try another brand.
